Meeting Agenda/Minutes

Wednesday, November 30th, 6:30 PM at the Firehouse

It’s the last VRWPA meeting of the year and we believe it to be our best. Nationally known Dr. Meeghan Gray has agreed to speak at our next meeting on Wednesday November 30th at 6:30 PM at the firehouse.

Dr. Meeghan Gray, from the Department of Agriculture, Nutrition &      Veterinary Science at UNR as a postdoctoral researcher, will meet with the   VRWPA membership and discussed her work with the wild horses here in the   Virginia Range.  She has done extensive research in connection with the birth   control program, including fertility rates, genetic diversity and herd behavior, and   has spent countless hours observing our horses in their native habitat.

She will  shared with us some of the improvements in the birth control vaccine, which now is effective for five years instead of the previous one year period.  This will be a huge advantage in reducing both the cost and disruptive effects of administering annual doses.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in our horses to attend and have Dr. Gray share some of her experience and knowledge with us, and answer any questions we might have.  And, of course, there will be delicious treats also available; it is worth attending the meeting just to satisfy your sweet tooth!  And don’t forget to check out our new website at www.vrwpa.org .
